DROME-19 is a student produced capstone film by animator and illustrator, Madeleine Chaffin. The film was premiered at Azusa Pacific University’s Industry Spotlight event at Warner Bros. Studio.

Client: Madeleine Chaffin

Project Type: Student

Overview

DROME-19 is a story following the character Benny as he works to replace his aircraft’s battery to return home. I worked with Chaffin to create a logo that would best fit the setting of her post-apocalyptic, sci-fi world.

Aligning with the Theme

After an initial discussion, Chaffin did not have a visual for her film title but provided me with keywords for DROME-19’s mood (prehistoric, robotic, rugged, war plane, etc.). I then took notes from Chaffin’s artwork, characters, and plot, aiming to imagine what she wanted most in a title design. Below are the presented concepts, each having been placed on all six different backdrops, testing them against the film’s environments.

Final Wordmark

The final design is a blend of our favorite concepts. The silver logo opened the film and was featured on a movie poster in the Warner Bros. Studio backlot during the Industry Spotlight.
